Speaker Meeting

Good afternoon gents, We've got a very easy reading assignment this week, none! Its the last Wednesday of the month so we've got our  speaker meeting  in store. Last week we paid a little tribute to Greg Fischer who passed away one year ago last week. As I'm writing this e-mail I recalled that the format portion of this e-mail (all the stuff below this personal message) was "borrowed generously" (ie: copy'n'pasted) from Greg's e-mail. I figured if it ain't broke, don't fix it!? I wanted to draw your attention to this specific portion he wrote, I think it embodies both what the Wednesday night meeting is about and how the program of AA is suppose to work: Suggestions for making the most of these meetings... Highlight actual passages IN THE BOOK (you can do this even if you use a digital copy) and/or take notes while you're reading so when you share you can discuss something specific.  The primary purpose of this meeting is to RE...

Physician, Heal Thyself! p301-308 - Remembering Greg Fischer

Good afternoon everyone, Today is a special day for those of us who were blessed to have known Greg Fischer in life. Today marks the 1 year anniversary of his passing. He started our Wednesday night meeting at the home he shared with his partner, Ann Bender, and in doing so helped many of us, myself included, to make a connection with this creative loving Spirit of the Universe we call God who gives us the power to recover. His memory has been blessing that inspires me to take more noble action than I would of my own accord and I look forward to having his spirit present at this Wednesday night's meeting!!  This week we review the story entitled  Physician, Heal Thyself! p301-308. Wed Night AA Meeting; Chapter 11 - A Vision for You

Good Evening, This Wednesday will be the last meeting of 2014. As we would like to start with something new next year, we will be focusing our reading this week on  Chapter 11- A Vision for You . However, if you would like to read and discuss anything on Chapter 10 - To The Employer, please feel free. Last Wednesday we had 20 people at the meeting; The only other meeting with so many people was Greg's Eulogy....  A Vision for You  I think is a fitting read to close out a year which has seen the Wednesday Night Big Book Group work through so many changes (changing meeting venues, losing our original patron)  and still grow and reach out to the still sick & suffering alcoholic. I know for myself, imaging a life without booze or mood enhancing drugs seemed lifeless, dull, and boring... Little did I know that this program would slowly but surely bring back the sound, color, and joyful conviviality I had been chasing after for so long.   Also, ...

IMPORTANT -- Wed Night AA: Memorial Meeting for Greg Fischer

Dear friends, It is with a very heavy heart I wish to inform everyone that a member of our fellowship and founder of the Wednesday night meetings, Greg Fischer, has passed away. This comes as a complete shock to many of us, including myself. I'd like to ask everyone to say a quick prayer for him, his family and his partner. In honor of Greg, we will be using tonight's meeting as an opportunity to eulogize the man who put so much of himself into this fellowship, into living, and into loving & caring for his loved ones. May his soul rest in Peace and forever be with us in the Fellowship of the Spirit. Sincerely, David t
