Good evening everyone, Just sending out your weekly reminder for this week's reading. We'll be delving into  My Chance to Live p309-318. I heard a speaker the other day talking about sometimes being called on to simplify what's in the Big Book for the newcomer. I think most of us would agree that, once the "click" occurs, the book is actually very clear and straightforward. But sometimes it does help to have someone animate the spirit of the book with a tale of their own experience. That's exactly what these stories do in my opinion. They expand and enrich my understanding of the program of AA through illustrations of how it was applied to other people's lives. That, in itself, makes it worth the time it takes to read through them thoughtfully while diligently writing down notes in order to extract as much meaning from them as possible and to be better able to participate in the discussions during the meeting. Good afternoon gents, We've got a very easy reading assignment this week, none! Its the last Wednesday of the month so we've got our  speaker meeting  in store. Last week we paid a little tribute to Greg Fischer who passed away one year ago last week. As I'm writing this e-mail I recalled that the format portion of this e-mail (all the stuff below this personal message) was "borrowed generously" (ie: copy'n'pasted) from Greg's e-mail. I figured if it ain't broke, don't fix it!? I wanted to draw your attention to this specific portion he wrote, I think it embodies both what the Wednesday night meeting is about and how the program of AA is suppose to work: Suggestions for making the most of these meetings... Good Evening everyone, In the words of my generation...  Better Late than Never!!  This is your reminder for this week's reading, we'll be reviewing  The Housewife Who Drank at Home p295-300  in the back of the Big Book. Lately, I've taken to reading the book "As Bill Sees It" for daily meditation. It's a compilation of letters and articles written by Bill W. I find it's got lots of juicy nuggets of wisdom in it and like a gaunt prospector, belt drawn in over the last ounce of food, my pick strikes gold in there often! Since I can only continue to draw gold by insisting on giving away the entire product, I wanted to share this piece I found today: Best Regards, David t. Good afternoon everyone, Today is a special day for those of us who were blessed to have known Greg Fischer in life. Today marks the 1 year anniversary of his passing. He started our Wednesday night meeting at the home he shared with his partner, Ann Bender, and in doing so helped many of us, myself included, to make a connection with this creative loving Spirit of the Universe we call God who gives us the power to recover. His memory has been blessing that inspires me to take more noble action than I would of my own accord and I look forward to having his spirit present at this Wednesday night's meeting!!  This week we review the story entitled  Physician, Heal Thyself! p301-308. Good evening gents, We are just roaring through the Big Book! I guess it's like they say "Time flies when you're having rum", oh, I mean fun!!
