IMPORTANT -- Wed Night AA: Memorial Meeting for Greg Fischer

Dear friends, It is with a very heavy heart I wish to inform everyone that a member of our fellowship and founder of the Wednesday night meetings, Greg Fischer, has passed away. This comes as a complete shock to many of us, including myself. I'd like to ask everyone to say a quick prayer for him, his family and his partner. In honor of Greg, we will be using tonight's meeting as an opportunity to eulogize the man who put so much of himself into this fellowship, into living, and into loving & caring for his loved ones. May his soul rest in Peace and forever be with us in the Fellowship of the Spirit. Sincerely, David t

Wed Night AA Meeting: Chapter 7 - Working with Others

Good evening my good people (and fellow alcoholics too), This week we will be discussing Chapter 7 - Working with Others. One of the most gratifying things this program offers is the chance to work with other alcoholics and witness the process in others. Its can also be, oddly enough, one of the more terrifying parts. I was told you have to give it away if you want to keep it though and the rewards have been many. The sponsor - sponsee relationship is one of the core ingredients in recovery. The beauty is that sponsoring others is just as beneficial, if not more than, being sponsored. If you've gone through the steps and have a year or more of sobriety, sponsoring is the next rung on that ladder. If you haven't got there yet, you can pray for the willingness & the opportunity to do so. Best Regards, David t. 2014 Meeting Dates 01/29/14  Speaker Meeting <Shane B> 02/26/14  Speaker Meeting <Fred D> 03/26/14  Speaker Meeting <Pete T> 0...

Wed Night AA Meeting: Chapter 6 - Into action

Hello everyone, Thanks for letting me share my story last week, I'm always amazed at how easy it is to speak in public when I'm not trying to control the outcome (what others will think of me). This week we are going ahead with Chapter 6 -  Into Action. In it is described steps 5,6,7,8,9,10 and 11. Clearly... this is a program of ACTION... As the saying goes, We can not think our way into right living, but we can live our way into right thinking! good night, David t. 2014 Meeting Dates 01/29/14  Speaker Meeting <Shane B> 02/26/14  Speaker Meeting <Fred D> 03/26/14  Speaker Meeting <Pete T> 04/30/14  Speaker Meeting <Clive T> 05/28/14  Speaker Meeting <Todd P> 07/30/14 Speaker Meeting <Dave W> 08/27/14 Speaker Meeting <Edwin H> 09/24/14  Speaker Meeting <Larry H> 10/29/14 Speaker Meeting <David t.> 11/5/14 Chapter 6 - Into Action 11/...

Wed Night AA Meeting; SPEAKER Meeting

Good evening guys, This week we will be rockin' the 4th speaker meeting since moving here. That means, you guessed it, NO READING!! It seems no matter how loud I say that someone will read ahead... If you do, have no fear, no matter how far down the scale we have gone we will see how our experience can benefit others -- next week!   Happy 24, David t

4th Step -- Moral Inventory

Hi John, I've been thinking about our conversation the other day about what things to put down on your moral inventory. We've made an excellent beginning with steps 1,2 and 3, but I'm concerned that you don't feel like you have much to put down for your fourth step. Having only 3 things on there (even if they're big ones) means you're damn close to being a saint!!  I wish it were true you were a saint, but lets face it.... Saints don't walk into Alcoholics Anonymous looking for help at your age!! lol When you quit drinking, your life got a little better. Even without the alcohol, however, you're still left with all of the personality traits that drove you to drink in the first place. A moral inventory is meant to be a complete list of everything that has occurred in your life which may be a source of negative emotion. As it says in chapter 5 "With all the earnestness at our command, we beg of you to be fearless and thorough from the star...

WED Night AA Meeting; Chapter 5 -- How It Works

Hello everyone,     We had another excellent meeting next week, I feel like we've set the bar real high for this week! We will be delving into Chapter 5 -- How It Works.     I always hear people make the comment "I haven't a clue HOW the program works" when really I think it would be more accurate to say I haven't a clue WHY it works. There is a whole chapter written on How it Works and you could even go so far as to say ALL of the 164 pages in the front of the Big Book explain how it works... Seems to me HOW it works is covered!! Why it works is another story (maybe... there is a higher power at work?).      Point of interest, I always kind of thought when doing step work that Chapter 5 was the place to start... but upon closer inspection the chapter only briefly mentions steps 1,2 and 3 and is mostly about step 4!! Hmmm.... maybe that's why there are 4 chapters ahead of it?!?! Who'da Thunk it?! See everyone soon. Regards, ...
